Washington & Canada STEM Trip - Rey Vergara
Hello, my name is Rey Vergara, and I recently had the privilege of embarking on a trip to Seattle and Canada. During this journey, I thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to meet new people and acquire intriguing knowledge. Notably, I discovered that the Seattle Space Needle is so robust that it can withstand a seismic event with a magnitude of 9.8.
While in Seattle, we had the chance to explore the Microsoft Center, where I observed individuals in the 20-25 age range engrossed in their work. Learning that their occupation involved testing video games captivated my interest. As an avid gamer, the idea of being paid to play games resonated deeply with me. Moreover, I realized that this could potentially be a career path for me, considering that they also offer to cover my college expenses while I work there. This arrangement is particularly appealing as saving up for education and living costs has become increasingly challenging in today's world.
The experience of visiting Canada was truly exceptional. This marked my first visit to the country, making it a truly memorable occasion. The suspension bridge was a delightful adventure, and all the places we explored enriched my overall experience.
I wholeheartedly recommend joining FHLA (Future Hispanic Leaders of America) based on the insights I gained from this trip. It has significantly influenced my perspective on potential career paths. Witnessing the abundant opportunities within the technology sector has been eye-opening and has broadened my horizons regarding various career possibilities.
