Life University Leadership Weekend - Adrian Mendoza

Hello, my name is Adrian Mendoza. I will be a senior at Canyon Ridge High School in Twin Falls, and I was selected to go to Atlanta, Georgia, to learn about chiropractic care at Life University. I want to express my gratitude to the chaperones—Rick Godina, Yukari Longest, Yolanda Ramirez, Hugo Mendoza, and Luis Caloca—for inviting me on this trip. I appreciated the opportunity to learn about chiropractic work.

The most interesting part of the trip was learning about the history of chiropractic care and how Life University became the largest chiropractic school. On our first day in Atlanta, we visited the university, where we listened to chiropractors discuss the courses they took for their careers and shared some of their personal experiences. We also toured the university campus and admired its beautiful sights. I was particularly impressed by the lab rooms, which featured tables with images of the human body, including nerves and bones. Each table cost $100,000, which was astonishing. Additionally, we saw a computerized system that measured the pressure applied to dummies on the tables.

Another highlight of the trip was meeting new people and discovering shared interests. On our second day, we visited the Georgia Aquarium, where we saw various marine animals, including belugas, crocodiles, whale sharks, and different species of fish. Nearby, we explored the Coca-Cola factory and Centennial Park, which featured captivating sights such as the Ferris wheel and the Olympic rings. After the park and aquarium, our group returned to the university for some engaging indoor and outdoor activities. The indoor activities taught me that despite confusion and challenges in life, one must keep moving forward. The outdoor activities reinforced the idea that life will always present difficulties, and finding solutions to problems is crucial.

I want to thank the chaperones, FHLA, Dr. Javier del Hoyo, and Luis Caloca for making this trip possible, not just for me, but for everyone who was chosen to learn about chiropractic care. It was a blessing to get to know everyone and to learn so much during this experience.
